Years ago when I was a much more ambitious person and had a much higher estimate of my intellectual abilities (so probably my freshman year of college), I did many things to help cultivate my intellect. One of those things was frequently wearing a fluorite crystal point as a necklace. I remember that I broke my first one–the chain drug it over the edge of a dresser and the crystal shattered–and I was almost inconsolably upset: by that time it had almost become my good luck charm.
At any rate, I acquired the necklace because I thought the stone was beautiful–all those layers of greens and purples–and because the descriptors at the store noted that its primary powers lay in facilitating mental clarity. Scott Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic notes that it appears to work most with the conscious mind, “straightening your thoughts” and “reducing emotional involvement in a situation in order to gain a more accurate perspective”. It also reportedly strengthens analytical abilities and aids in memorizing and using information. Cunningham also makes the logical jump that if it promotes the analytical mind, fluorite can also temper strong emotions and bring thought to the “angry sea of desperation, depression, or anger.”
Melody’s Love is in the Earth further elaborates on this theme, noting that it “produces an energy which is predisposed to discourage chaotic, disruptive, and disorganized growth” and “can be used to stabilize and produce order within the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual systems.” In other words, fluorite is the stone that “can be used to bring order to chaos”, for it helps bring energies of impartiality and encourages detached reasoning in situations that would benefit from objectivity. As such, it “represents the height of mental achievement, facilitating a limitless range of avenues for exploration.” Melody also notes that fluorite:
Increases the ability to concentrate, balancing the positive and negative relationships of the mind. It helps one to see both reality and truth behind illusion.
It is excellent in helping one to understand the balances intrinsic to relationships. It provides for a stabilizing energy, helping relationships, groups, and individuals to flourish in the realm of that which is beneficial to all.
The energy of fluorite can inspire the universal energies to activate the nourishing energies of the body, assisting one in the attainment of the ultimate state of physical perfection. It allows one to recognize the purity of the universe and to understand that each portion of the universe maintains an inherent perfection in order to allow the unfolding of the perfect universe.
It also encourages and sustains the flawless ideal of health, intellect, and emotional well-being. It provides for purification, cleansing, and elimination of that which is in disorder. It can be used to dispel disorders at the commencement of the symptoms. It is useful to dissipate the states associated with colds, flue, staph, and strep infections, infections cankers, herpes, ulcers, and similar infections. It has been used in the treatment of violent and/or highly infective disease, as well as by others who are working with those affected in order to provide protection from the affectation. It has been used in the treatment of tumors at the beginning stages of their growth, and can be used in the treatment of bone structure and composition and formation of cells, and can assist in prevention and repair of RNA/DNA damage.
Melody also lists special properties for many different colors and compounds of fluorite, as it can appear pink, blue, green, yellow, purple, magenta, red, black, and clear. In a nutshell, blue fluorite is more calming and orderly. Colorless helps to clear and energize the aura and bring the spiritual and intellectual in line. Green cleanses with a “mint-like freshness of springtime”, brings renewal, and eliminates negativity. Purple brings rationality to intuitive qualities and helps bring precision to psychic communication. Yellow enhances creativity and supports intellectual pursuits.
