Stand facing the south. Begin with your hands at your sides, palms flat, facing in front of you. Bend the right arm at the elbow and raise the right hand so that the palm faces out and is level with your right cheek. The left hand remains open at the left hip. Close the little finger and ring finger of both hands, which creates the hand gesture of esotericism. This pose has some similarities with the well-known “Baphomet” image of the Knights Templar. As you practice this magical pass, sense what energies it invokes for you.
I’ve been going through something of a whiny stage as of late. I don’t want to do work. I don’t want to be with people. I’m just sort of tired and blah. In fact, yesterday I did nothing after my apprenticeship but lie in bed and watch TV. Seriously. Around 7 I mustered up the energy to combat my headache and read an essay, but that was as good as it got.
What’s the point in this? I need every last little motivator I can get in order to make it through my day. And this gesture did help me grab a little bit of motivation. As I performed it, I felt more centered…which isn’t all that surprising, I guess, seeing as this gesture of Esotericism literally translates into “as above, so below”–quite the centering phrase. Immediately after the centering, I got a little jolt of energy–sort of a small kick in the rear to get going with the things that need done. And so, this post. Next? Getting this room straightened up so I can work!
